2016-06-03 Muine Clean Up-MANTA Sail Training CentreGreat workout today at Manta, battling with garbage! We picked up quite a few tonnes of rubbish, stuffed few trucks full, but there’s still lots of work to do. We might not win, but it doesn’t mean we don’t have to do our best, so we plan to continue tomorrow, and we could really use your help.

Positive news this morning from Mui Ne People’s Committee to coordinate beach clean-up:

  • 2pm, Saturday 18 June, with 400 government people, timed with full-moon for low-tide.
  • Starting at Bien Phuong, MANTA end of the bay, with diggers for the tough stuff, and trucks for disposal of the rice bags of rubbish.
  • Trucks will take rubbish to Phan Thiet where there’s greater capacity to treat plastic pollution.

2016-06-03 Muine Clean Up-MANTA Sail Training Centre-01Rice bags and gloves will be provided by government, with some available at MANTA.

BIG thanks to Mui Ne People’s Committee with trucks, a digger, and hundreds of helping hands, plus help from Lucy at Source, Steve Raymond and team at Pandanus, Lionel Gattoni at Mia, Grahame Booker at Fisheye Production, Rebekah Maley and Adara at Pogo, Đắc Hoàn and team at Mui Ne English School, Diep Nguyen, Oksana Pavlova, Boo Pấn Sờ and MANTA staff Quoc Phung Tran, Thế Đời Là, and Nga, and Alex Sergeevich with massive speakers and great tunes for meditative work out. A full beach of clean-up help!
