Do you want to learn a new sport without investing a lot of time? Stand-up paddling (SUP) is an excellent choice for you and your family/friends. Let’s see how Manta can provide the best SUP service ever!

What is Stand-up Paddling (SUP)?

Stand-up paddling is usually called SUP, which is a water sport born from surfing with modern roots in Hawaii. This sport uses longboards with PADDLES for propulsion and does not need wave power to stand up. Initially, SUP was used as a means of transportation, fishing, and recreation among islanders in Peru and Hawaii. In the 1990s, SUP was modernized and redefined to be a sport, as you can see today.

SUP is the best choice when there is no wind. It’s a low-impact activity that’s easy to learn and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels. Stand-up paddleboarders simply stand on boards that are floating on the water and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water.

SUP is open to all: From 5 to 85 years old – depending on the individual’s choice for safety, with respect to medical conditions. MANTA asks clients to tell us if there is anything we need to know about their medical condition.

Stand-up paddling is becoming popular, taking over the watersports scene. There are many ways to paddle a SUP: From sitting to kneeling, to standing, to surfing. You can SUP individually or with others onboard. SUP is a great way to get in shape while also getting out into nature. You’ll definitely return once you’ve had a taste!

Stand-up Paddling at MANTA: with lessons and rentals

At MANTA, we provide both SUP lessons and rentals, which are easily accessible and available for clients. A SUP rental package includes a board, paddle, board leash, and life jacket. MANTA always uses internationally-certified equipment with high maintenance standards for the best watersports experience.

It is best for students to arrive for lessons with an empty mind. No prior knowledge or experience is needed. Students can learn how to paddle, balance, and maneuver their board. They’ll also learn how to read the water and the wind, so they can make the most of their time on the water.

For children who come to learn new watersports, we also issue a participation certificate for any watersports – as a souvenir, to prove that students can demonstrate the skills they have gathered or mastered. It is not recognised internationally.

To ensure safety, there will always be a supervisor at MANTA to watch the watersports. We ask you to stay where you can see us so we can see you. With SUP, MANTA asks clients to start by paddling into the wind and staying close to the shore. The wind can then help them drift back to MANTA at the end of their session. We also ask clients to keep the boards in at least knee depth of water, to prevent the fins of the board from breaking.

SUP is an activity that anyone (even dogs) can enjoy, so don’t be afraid to give it a try! If you’re interested in SUP service at MANTA, feel free to send an email to [email protected]
